Farmhand
Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is a non-profit organization in Indian Trail, NC that rescues, rehabilitates, and releases or adopts out a wide variety of domestic and wild animals including geese, chickens, cows, donkeys, pigs, songbirds and reptiles. We have a team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff and volunteers who work 365 days a year to provide quality care for the animals in our organization.

CWR is seeking a part time farmhand to join our team in Indian trail, NC. Hours vary. We are open 7 days a week 8 am to 9pm during the summer; 8-6:00 during winter.
Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. This is a physically demanding position; please review the responsibilities below.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Distributing feed.
Completing weekly feed inventory.
Raking out and replacing all bedding straw in barns and pens.
Cleaning and maintaining animal crates, pens and enclosures.
Assisting with animal care as required such as rounding up birds for medical care and routine deworming.
Maintaining yards, fields and pens by making sure they are clear of debris and unused items.
Organizing and maintaining storage buildings.
Ability to repair small equipment and perform minor farm repairs (fencing, latches, gates, hoses) and minor house repairs (un/install window AC units, replace washers and dryers, replace freezers).
EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES and QUALITIES REQUIRED:
Must have initiative, good skills, be a team player as well as be able to work.
independently in a fast-paced environment.
Must be adept at handling fluctuating priorities.
Reliable and dependable.
Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting.
Able to routinely lift/push/pull 75 lbs. and over 75 lbs. occasionally.
Previous farm or work experience at an animal care facility helpful.
Ability to provide humane handling of animals a must!
Ability to work effectively in an environment with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, and animal hair/feathers.
Able to follow Biosecurity protocols.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Full-Time and Part-Time positions. Weekends and holiday hours are required. Accrued PTO after probation period.
