Our doors are open to those animals few rescues are willing to or are able to accommodate: domestic and wild fowl, migratory songbirds, reptiles, farm animals, and even "pocket pets".

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR) is non-profit 501c3 wildlife rescue organization located in Indian Trail, NC. CWR is run by federally licensed wildlife rehabilitators who provide sanctuary, rescue, and rehabilitation for wildlife, farm, and exotic animals. In 2023, CWR provided care for over 7,000 animals. The rescue depends on volunteers who donate their time, money, and expertise to helping animals in need throughout the Carolinas. We assist local law enforcement in seizure cases and investigates nuisance referrals. Domestic fowl, farm, and exotic animals that have been surrendered to our care are available for adoption.

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is operated almost entirely by passionate volunteers, a critical element to the success of CWR. As a volunteer, you get to spend time working with animals, assisting in their care, and have a direct hand in their journey back to the wild or to be placed in a loving home.

No matter what interests you or how much time you can spare, with so many different volunteer opportunities at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue there’s bound to be one that suits you!
