Our Team
Behind every rescue is a dedicated team of professionals, volunteers, educators, and caregivers who show up—every day—for animals who have nowhere else to turn. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is powered by deep expertise, compassion in action, and a belief that care and knowledge go hand in hand. With decades of combined experience in wildlife rehabilitation, avian medicine, sanctuary care, and public education, our team not only provides lifesaving treatment, but also shares the stories and lessons that inspire greater understanding, responsibility, and respect for the animals we serve.
Jennifer Gordon
Founder and Executive Director
Jennifer Gordon is the founder and Executive Director of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue and has more than two decades of experience in wildlife rehabilitation, animal welfare, and nonprofit leadership.
Jennifer began working in wildlife rehabilitation in 1999, gaining experience with Animal Rehabilitators of the Carolinas and volunteering with Carolina Raptor Center. After recognizing a significant need for resources dedicated to abandoned domestic waterfowl and other underserved birds, she founded Carolina Waterfowl Rescue in 2003. What began as a small rescue caring for approximately 300 birds in its first year has since grown into an organization providing rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, and placement services to thousands of animals annually.
